AMI is proud to present its annual training programme and training calendar for 2012.
AMI training programmes are designed to support capacity development of staff of national and international organizations/
institutions and projects/programmes in international development. The courses provide managerial competencies that enable the participants to work successfully in their respective fields of
work.
In our training programme you can find training courses, which prepare participants for leadership responsibilities, team and conflict management and human resource development. All these programmes have a strong emphasis on necessary communication skills (facilitation/moderation, negotiation, mediation, counseling and teaching/training) as a prerequisite to apply management knowledge and skills as well as practice-oriented management techniques successfully. Further more there are training programmes that cover the whole range of project management, from systematic planning to monitoring and evaluation.
The AMI training approach always considers the cross-cultural dimension of international management. All courses offer a well balanced mix of theoretical inputs, practical application and exchange of experience. A variety of different interactive methods are used, e.g. group work, experiments, simulations, case studies, exercises, role plays, games, coaching and video feedback. Participants are encouraged to work on case studies and issues from their own field of work. This interactive, appreciative process moves management training away from the traditional lecture approach and gives participants hands-on experience which they can readily apply to their work.
After the completion of the induction phase of Capacity Works in GIZ, our courses offer the opportunity to further deepen the understanding and the ability to practically apply the GIZ management approach to project implementation.
AMI training programmes focus on 2 major target groups:
National personnel is increasingly filling important staff positions In GIZ -supported programmes and projects. According to the GIZ -policy for National Personnel national staff is expected to know and apply all relevant GIZ policies, standards, rules and regulations. In this context good performance is to a large degree the result of a systematic capacity development process that enables staff to meet the job requirements. Programme managers play a key role in helping national staff to meet the necessary performance standards.
AMI courses for national personnel allow participants to assess and shape their behaviour and competencies to cope with the challenges of working with GIZ in a rapidly changing social, political and economic environment.
In 2012 we continue to offer a new training course "Understanding German Development Cooperation" (Policy environment of German technical and financial cooperation, procedures and instruments of implementing agencies - GIZ , KfW). This training course provides for GIZ National staff and National counterparts a profound orientation on how technical and financial cooperation works and in which policy and regulatory environment contracts with the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ) are managed.
Training venues are different locations in Thailand (Bangkok, Hua Hin) to ensure convenient connections from all over the Asia-Pacific region. Our services include full support for travel arrangements of participants in Thailand.

AMI-training programmes have also been successfully organised as in-house or programme/project-specific training measures. Contents and methods are adapted to the specific needs and interests of the participants and organisers. In-house training programmes usually take the form of a training-workshop, which combines training with direct application to the specific situation and problems of the participants.
