RBM focuses on achievement of expected results: outputs, outcomes and impact throughout the management process. Thus it is a move away from input-based or activity-based management.

RBM is intended to improve both accountability and management effectiveness and could be applied at corporate, project /programme and country level. RBM is the management approach of the UN and provides guidance to many bilateral donors and implementing agencies, including GIZ .
This training course addresses colleagues who want to learn how to plan and organize projects and programmes using the internationally accepted Logical Framework Approach (LFA), which is the standard planning approach in the international donor community and for many government organizations worldwide. The Logical Framework Approach offers a "toolbox" of instruments and procedures to operationalize and apply Results-Based Management (RBM).

The programme includes as well the chance for field visits to a development project in Thailand where the participants can experience how development strategies are practically implemented. Thus the chance to exchange practical experiences with other practitioners and to confront theoretical learning with the reality of project implementation is offered.
