Thanks for your interest in AMI’s services. Our website shows our updated programme and services. In 2009, AMI will continue the successful and proven courses for general management, project management and change management and offer some new training courses
Under the heading General Management (GM 1 - 7) you will find programmes which focus on leadership, team management and human resource development with a strong emphasis on necessary communication skills (moderation, negotiation, mediation, counselling).
The programmes on Project Management (PM 1 - 3) cover the whole range of management tasks and functions related to successful project management with special emphasis on strategy development and impact-oriented monitoring. The main focus is on methods, techniques and instruments for impact-oriented project planning and monitoring based on the Results-Based Management (RBM) and the Logical Framework Approach (LFA).
The programmes on Change Management (CM 1 - 2) concentrate on how to initiate and steer processes of organisational change and growth and are thus closely related to process management.
Under the respective course titles you will find detailed descriptions on the objectives, contents and methods for each of the courses.
AMI courses are regularly reviewed and updated to react to feedback and changing demand from our clients as well as to integrate new developments in the field of organizational development, (project) management and intercultural co-operation.
One of the most far reaching developments in 2009 is the introduction of Capacity WORKS by GIZ, one of our major clients. Capacity works is a management model which orients the management of complex projects and programmes toward the concept of sustainable development based on five success factors.
Organized by GIZ, there will be basic courses in all regions to familiarize GIZ-staff with Capacity WORKS. In line with this project management approach, the AMI training courses provide further in-depth knowledge and skills for each of the 5 success factors of Capacity WORKS:
Apart from proven and successful programmes that we continue to offer, we designed a number of new products and services on which we would like, for your better orientation, to comment.
The new course on Human Resource Management (GM 3) focuses on capacity building and the personal development:
Effective management of human resources - the most valuable resource of every organization - means recruitment, management and the motivation of the people in an organization or programme in such a way that they can contribute effectively to the achievement of the organization’s or programme’s goals. The new programme aims to familiarize participants with the techniques and instruments of HRM and how to adapt these to the needs of the programme or organization.
Two courses under the heading of Project Management were re-designed (PM 1) or newly developed (PM 2) during the last year and will in 2009 complement existing AMI programmes in this field:
Results-Based Management (RBM) is a broad management strategy focusing on performance and achievement of outputs, outcomes and impacts. RBM is widely used in the field of development cooperation (UN, GIZ, etc.). RBM focuses on achieving results and aims at changing the way agencies operate, with improving performance as the central orientation. Based on the Logical Framework Approach (LFA), the training programme covers all management tasks throughout the project cycle: Identification – formulation – implementation – monitoring/evaluation and reporting.
Please note that the duration of this comprehensive training programme that covers project planning and results-based monitoring will be 8 days and will include field trips and visits to projects, thus opening chances for practitioners to exchange experiences and to learn from each other.
Systematic capacity development is the key to personal, institutional and – on a broader scale – a country’s technical and economic development. This training programme provides profound experience with the application of relevant techniques and instruments related to the various management functions and success factors in developing the capacity of individuals working in programmes, institutions and organizations.
The open courses in Thailand offer opportunities to meet participants from many countries, backgrounds and sectors to exchange experiences and learn from one another. In addition, all AMI-training programmes can also be organised as in-house or project-specific trainings. The contents and methods will be adapted to the specific needs and interests of the participants and organizers.
In-house training usually takes the form of a seminar-workshop which combines teaching and training with direct application to the specific situations and problems of the participants. It is recommended when
